Oreyt chaps and chapettes, it's been a while since I've been on here (not that anyone would have noticed ) But after being busy with life and the sorts I'm wanting to come back.
So thought I'd kick off with this project I've been keeping myself busy with - a 1991 Peugeot 205 'style' 1.1
Bit of back story for anyone who's interested; This was my first car. Bought it back in 2013 for £700. Had only done 35,000 miles. Was an excellent first car, it used to look so mint!
Anyway I then got meself a 205 gti and sold the style to my brother....who crashed it
Instead of fixing it up he bought a replacement car and my plan was to use it as a parts car for my gti which desperately needed some non rusty body panels (Like a boot floor). So after buying my first house, doing a bit of work to that and life just getting in the way both my gti and the style sat doing nowt for 6 years. The gti sat in the garage while the style sat outside, looking sorry for itself...
By the time I got around to pulling my finger out and starting on the gti so many reproduction parts had started being made meaning I didn't really need to cut up the style so I planned on getting rid of it asap to appease the other half. While I was deciding if i should part it out or sell as a project me and the mrs broke up which made my decision for me instantly, I decided to restore the style and get it back on the road. As she would be taking her two cars with her I could really do with a run about for when I'm doing work on my daily (The jaaaag) and of course be a shame to cannibalise or scrap my first car, I reckon I'd regret it.
When I was deciding what to do I made a post on the facebook 205 owners group asking for opinions and some absolute legend local to me offered me a free bonnet, in the right colour So first job was to fit that
I then went about replacing the damaged rad discovering some nasty sludge where the coolant should have been...
Took the header tank off and cleaned it with some gravel and water.
It was then I decided I best do the head gasket as who knows how bad the block will be...
