Cold cast welding is a very good method to use. I use it a lot. The key is good prep work on the part to be welded. Minimal amount of heat and short runs. You should be able to touch it with your hand..it will be fine.Yes because he tried welding it and the thing cracked into little pieces.
He did it properly with pre heat and everything.
Then I saw a mention in a forum where a bloke just mig welded the table with no probs!
Personally I wouldn't risk it and would use metal filled epoxy.

Great thread, I've got a 2G which I'll be restoring as time permits. Looking forward to the finishing.... can't believe they filled and sanded the castings at the factory, must have been a high build paint/sprayable filler?
