I took the first one out...and only just happened to shine a light in there and realized there was another.Yes, I found that the hard way.

They are a strange set up. My dog clutch only had one grub screw in it. There is supposed to be two. Never found the other one...There was a grease nipple in mine, so I wasn't expecting a grub screw behind it. I often think of the bloke with a grease gun wondering why he couldn't get any grease in. Even so the outer race of the bearing blocks the hole, I did look for some cross-drillings but couldn't find any.
I will do the same. Shame they didn't add more depth to the dogs.I got mine built up with weld, used a Dremel to get rid of the excess weld and finished off with engineer's blue and a diamond file.

Yer the vice is very nice. I have my eyes on a progress 3A ...will see how this build goes first before I commit to another challengeThe light wasn't on my drill, I guess that was a later model. That vice is a cracker, again not mine, I was offered a similar vice FOC but it didn't work out.
How do you strip it? I've spent all morning getting the paint off mine with acetone and a woodworking chisel, it doesn't touch the original paint or the filler though.
I use two items. I post some picturesHow do you strip it? I've spent all morning getting the paint off mine with acetone and a woodworking chisel, it doesn't touch the original paint or the filler though.
Ok. I use an old wood chisel that's very sharp. I put a slight angle on mine as I find this helps...this will remove the main bulk of it. I then go on to use these preparation wheels..this removes the bits left on the rough castings. I finally finish up with a combination of wire wheels. This gets all the difficult bits. The drill casting took a few hours..How do you strip it? I was going to. But low on media..was then going to soda blast it...but ran out of that...so had to use the ol method...graft it offI grit blasted mine.
Next on the list...sort this out....View attachment 185162
