Should of seen me stabbing away with a screwdriver! It will be a slap over patch job, if he isn't keeping it, stay well, well clear.
I've done 2 x-types now properly, complete cut out and replace everything jobs and I will never touch another one.
The welding and fab required to do it properly is generally more than an x-type is worth these days.
It's okay saying it's a mondeo in a frock but it isn't - the pressing for the sills are Jaguar over the mondeo inners, and thats where all the problems start, as the drains run through them and the Jag outers are so close to the inners that once they get a little silt in there, they hold water inside all 3 portions of the sill and they rot from the front to the back and all the way from the floorpan out.
If they're as bad as the ones I've seen (probably looked at at least 20-30 of them by now) it'll have all the structural integrity of a wet paper tissue if it gets in a crash.
