I always duel price vehicle welding:
1. We will patch it - it will get thru this years MOT but not next years for ~~~~
2. We will cut it out - weld thick metal in - grind it back - seam seal it then underseal it - it will last two years and cost you twice as much ~~~~
I am a member of a few facebook sales groups, everyday people post for various trade recommendations, virtually every posts says 'don't want to be be ripped off', 'looking for the best price', 'can't afford to pay a lot'. 'not looking for someone who charges the earth'.
Not the best way to be looking for quality work.
I point blank don’t do welding on cars but people still beg me to! Oh it’s only this little hole or this sill.
Yeah, we’ve all heard that before.
That’s good I might have to use that."i'm not insured for vehicles"
Thats exactly the situation with this Jag of my brothers! Say no moreI think the biggest problem in many cases is the fact it's same place doing the MOT as doing the welding so sadly it's likely to pass no matter how bad a repair it is
Yes it is, you're correct of course, except the mondeos were built better. Doesn't change the fact that jags of this era rust for fun though.Problem is it’s not an old jag
It’s a Mondeo in a posh frock.
Iv had dozens of mates ask me to quote for people they know on faceache. Never had one say yes as I was always over priced and taking the Micheal apparently. I guess that’s the difference between someone doing the job properly with a conscious and some chancer with a gasless mig doing it on the side of the road with no welding mask and a tub of seam sealer
I remember we kept Ford Mondeo subframes on the shelf!Yes it is, you're correct of course, except the mondeos were built better. Doesn't change the fact that jags of this era rust for fun though.
Iv been offered a disco boot floor and sills tonight for a huge amount of money I’m going to see it to then quote to book a few days holiday and look at sorting it out
