I would love one but roof too high for a flue and whilst I would be fine lighting it others wouldn't be!

Those missing roof fan /vent covers would never see you able to get it even slightly warm Fizzy , plus it being made of uninsulated wriggly tin you'd have Swansea's biggest radiator .

You'll need a darn great tin of Germolene to heal your anal orifice up before the landlord does that judging by the poor state of the rest of the industrial estate . For as long as you are still holed it won't happen .

theres no point where you are unless you move to an insulated building and then you would need other areas that are controlled with partitions and curtains up so the areas can be heated

the loading bay being the worst but even that can be heated and pallet unloading and loading can be done within a seperate area then entering the heated warehouse

I don't like the idea of some random combustion device blowing air around in a confined space . . . and if it's that cold in the garage that I need one, I'd rather be inside the house doing something.

I found the insulation (not quite there yet, but 3/4 done) of the workshop enables the bearable use of an electric convection oil-filled radiator on a timer.
It comes on at 8am, goes off at 4pm, set on low, which is less than 1kW cycling on and off.
Even on the coldest days so far it's brought the workshop temp up to a liveable level, around 12degC when the outside is -5degC. Generally the outside is around 5 or 6 and inside it's still about 12 or 14 because of the 'stat.
Once I get off my arris and get in there, the action of doing stuff compensates for the not-quite-living-room temperature anyway, but the biggest benefit is not having ice-cold tools.
The leccy cost is noticeable at billing time but it's not horrific.
It would still be cheaper to get the diesel heater into use - I bought one two years ago and it got caught in the last flood, so never even unboxed it. It's probably fine, but I really couldn't be bothered finding out.

I caved and ordered one. Been interested to see and play about with one to compare to my elderly but great Webasto Airtop 2000.
I'm thinking to put it in my 4x4m workshop cum she'd (single skin block sunk back into a raised bank with a fibreglass flat roof. It should be plenty to heat that..... plus it can be a standby for the Webasto on my Camper if it ever dies on me (the Webasto is bog basic twiddle knob controller, no screen or remote etc).

It's an absolute kitten to light , if you get the hang of it.....

Roof height about 9 or 10m. Very exposed to wind. Also needs to be idiot proof
If I move to somewhere with some nice old outbuildings for my own use I wouldn't hesitate.

Standard amount of flue tubing supplied is about 4 m , but if you can angle the flue out of a sidehole, you've nailed it......

I keep looking at these and thinking they might be a good replacement for the non working Truma gas/electric heater in the caravan we bought. Parts for that are extortionate and it takes up a lot of space. Theres already hot air pipes and vents around the caravan that one of these would hook up to and from experience of the eberspacher in my landy one of these diesel air heaters would run for quite some time on a dedicated battery.

You can buy about 30 of them now for the cost of an Eberspacher
Current draw at startup is pretty high - perhaps 20 amps or so but they soon drop down to maybe 1 or 2 amps under normal running.

they are fitted in most things for the air they put out

Not all diesel heaters draw the same power, but here's an average of how long they last: A 55Ah battery powers your diesel heater for about 20-30 hours. A 100Ah battery lasts around 40-60 hours.

they work fine in overnight wagons as we recharge them whilst driving and ive known them to be fine for 2 overnights

I have an airtop 2000 webasto. Cost 1200. Not using it now. Just been serviced. Runs direct from fuel tank. Amazing to see similar at £70 on eBay. Assume not as good but you never know!

If they are anything like as good as my ancient Webasto in performance, then I'll be well happy.
The key IMO on installation of these in a vehicle is to isolate the dosing pump very well from the bodywork.
Mine is on 2 lots of soft rubber AVM's, but I've heard variations like putting them inside a box stuffed with cotton wool, or using rubber O Rings under tension to suspend the pump.
Otherwise you get a solid "THUNK, THUNK, THUNK" as the body acts as a drum amplifier every time the pump pulses.
Heat & efficiency-wise, my Webasto is great. Sips fuel, and as @fizzy says - I've measured mine pulling 20 Amps on startup, but once burning and running without the glowplug, battery draw falls right down. Also, in a small space like a van (insulated) you don't need to run it for long periods to warm the space up.
Kero seems to burn hotter & much cleaner than diesel, so it's all I use through mine.

Agree with all of that and matches my thoughts from the use of the D1LC i have in the 110. The pump for that is mounted on the chassis and it ticks away - can be heard when stationary but not when driving. I might go for one as a cheap solution to the non - working gas/electric Truma heater in the caravan. Think that's only 2.5-3kW actually so a 5kW air heater would be an upgrade thinking about it. The rest of the space removing the Truma would leave can be converted to a cupboard!
