I used to build flight cases so went through thousands of them ,, Ive still a few 32mm x5mm pops left , they were tough to get hold of at the time , but handy on a bad day.
Lots of window regulators still held in with pop rivets .
It was fitted (badly) by the aptly named highwayman who sold me the boat.....It was a successful attempt to get it working, but the unit used to jam when you really needed it! i.e in a storm The boat was listing, so the rigging had been bodged to keep the mast vertical. My 1st and last sailing boat.Boom roller....thats a bit fancy?
Do I see a trooper in said starship ?Oooooh, a Starship
Even frogs rivet (but call it ribbit PC)...kindly leave the stage? They still rivet some cars together (along with adhesive).
Apparently thats what everyone says...the roller must make rigging and reefing a lot simpler (when it's working smoothly of course). My 1st and last sailing boat.
Pop rivet and cold set solid rivet usage taught in my S3/4 engineering classes, this year maybe a third of their individual projects are using rivets somewhere so definitely not forgotten!Has it been forgotten,is it a frowned upon NO NO NO?????
This one doesn’t he’s welded not ribbitedEven frogs rivet (but call it ribbit PC)...kindly leave the stage?
I had to google then youtube self piercing rivets as not seen them before.JLR went from spot welding to self piercing rivets to hold the bodyshells together.
I learnt to use cold rivet setting and forming tools as part of my apprenticeship in the 70's and still use pop rivets in the right place today.

Same on our Skoda's. I replaced them with rivetnuts and small boltsOn Mercedes cars the window regs are held in place with steel pop rivets. Look just like aluminium ones but hard to drill out.
