Profit/Production ALWAYS overrules Quality! I learnt that in Aerospace over the last 40 years![]()
The stories I could tell...
After 8 years I'd had enough.

These appear to have the top plate just sat on top and welded, I think without the thread being machined down.Noo, just cutting the tops off and welding is not good enough for axle stands. The threaded part should be turned and the tops machined to fit on the spigot before welding on securely. Like Jack’s blue pic above - but likely welded on both top and bottom sides.
Everything is ‘quality’. Don’t be fooled by that description! These happen to be very low quality![]()
They are shocking!
I would want a new pair sent out, or some money back.
Not sure where you got Germany from. All this suggests they aren't manufactured in Germany....I guess China is closer
Were they marked TUV?
I am led to believe that some 20% of the Australian population are recent arrivals from the Far East anyway, so sadly 'Made in Australia', even if true, may not guarantee conscientious workmanship anyway. Not sure where you got Germany from.
They are labelled as made in Australia and I am sure that at least the base is. Unfortunately made in Australia (like any country) does not mean that the whole thing is. For all I know the threaded rod could be made in China and have the welding done there.
Does Australia not have a Health and Safety or Trading Standards type set up, you could report them to for selling unsafe/dangerous equipment? The manufacturer decided that replacing the threaded rod and top section would be too complicated so they would have to send out whole replacements. They seem to have no problem with that except that they claim their courier will not collect/deliver with a residential address. I haven't heard of couriers which will not, just that they usually charge an extra fee. Luckily the seller has been very helpful and is happy to get them sent to them and then they will send them to me (and try to charge the manufacturer). The seller also doesn't know why they can't use a residential address, I think the manufacturer is just trying to be cheap.
I could easily remove the top section as it is just a couple of blobs of weld on the threaded rod which stop it from lifting out. They think it is difficult so if they want to pay to send whole replacements they can, plus I will hopefully get ones without massive runs in the paint. I guess they wouldn't want someone who could actually weld to work on them.
Sorry, my bad.... you should have got some German ones with TUV certification though
But seriously, if it was a domestic transaction, are the consumer rights really that different over there? I'd be insisting on full refund as you've (probably) now lost confidence in the manufacturer.
I am sure I could get a refund easily if I asked for one, I think I am just too nice to annoy them.I am led to believe that some 20% of the Australian population are recent arrivals from the Far East anyway, so sadly 'Made in Australia', even if true, may not guarantee conscientious workmanship anyway.
I'm another who would have wanted a refund, and in England it would have been easy to get one.
I hope you have time to post photos of the replacements when they arrive...
I hadn't thought of that, I might see what I can do easily.Does Australia not have a Health and Safety or Trading Standards type set up, you could report them to for selling unsafe/dangerous equipment?
When I lived in the Philippines I would occasionally order car parts from several different US suppliers, Summit, Jeggs, Speedway etc. Most of the stuff would arrive in flamboyant boxes, proudly proclaiming 'Made in the USA'....Not sure where you got Germany from.

And I also remember comparing a £80 electric cooling fan, from Summitracing, to a £10 item I had bought locally. When I lived in the Philippines I would occasionally order car parts from several different US suppliers, Summit, Jeggs, Speedway etc. Most of the stuff would arrive in flamboyant boxes, proudly proclaiming 'Made in the USA'....
....which the boxes probably were. But when you find little gold 'Made in Taiwan' stickers on the actual products it all becomes clear.
That looks better....So I finally got the two replacement stands.
