recently I have been pondering the idea of upgrading my M300 as recently I have been doing a number of jobs that have been very difficult due to running out of capacity. Mainly the issues have been with the centre height and spindle bore. Funnily enough the same reasons I upbraged from a Boxford some years ago.
So looking at suggestions for a possible replacement, one of the most important factors is needing to be capable of cutting both metric and imperial threads without the need to swap changewheels several times a day.
I also would require the machine to be quite compact with no larger than a 1000mm BC cappacity, I know a big lathe is going to be big but don’t want it takeing up the whole shed.
Just looking at ideas initially, the obvious solution is a M500 with a 1000mm bed, but there must be other better options.
