Theres nothing graphic in the video and the calf does get up and run off in the end, so I do not see any reason to remove it. If the mod's feel this is not the place then perhaps remove the video but keep the thread.

I'd be interested how others with experience of these large beasts would have approached the situation, one for @hotponyshoes ?

Headlights, ner ners, loads of noise and ramming it with a car isnt the best way to calm down and capture a cow. Rattling a bucket of feed under an animals nose would have most of them follow you over a cliff, for that plod would have to get out of the car.

It seems policemen can do absolutely nothing these days without causing a public outcry - is it any wonder no one wants to be one.

I came across two young police officers one night called to some pikey horses that had got onto the road. They didn't have a clue. They had parked their car across the road to block traffic. I dug a ratchet strap out of the boot and under my instruction we corralled them safely onto a bit of waste land between some houses. Wouldn't be a bad idea tbh for them to receive some livestock training.

I watched that clip twice.

That was the smallest least aggressive cow I have ever seen.

They left it - in pain - still alive under the front of truck.

If this standard Police procedure - it needs reviewing and changing.

The animal was not despatched - it was tortured!

Edit: Just watched some more footage - poor thing got up and walked off.

I'm bemused by the suggestion all Police need training in dealing with cows. What next? Sheep? Maybe pigs? Do we go has far as training to deal with bantam cockerels?

I think they just need training in common sense.

This lived in my beat for nearly a year. Farmer couldn’t get a hold of it, they ended up harassing it so much if it heard a quad it ran into the trees. It became very friendly towards me. It would stand and pose and eventually let me walk to within patting distance. They caught her eventually when she moved into a dead end road. The collar she has on is a virtual fence, it didn’t work very well! She’s back on the farm with a calf now and living the life a cow should

When you offer wages such as the police do and the good chance of being stabbed with no way to defend yourself, you're picking either from the bottom of the barrel and from there you get two types of people go into the police.

The first group are people that didn't do well in school, they have a low work drive/work ethic, people who it is just a job to to earn a few quid and not be on the dole.
This is where you find the idiot bobbies that end up running people over etc.

The second group are the people who have a desire for control, violence or want a position of power to cover up for their misdeeds.

The police is full of these people, jobsworths feel like they have power in such a position, then you've got the type of people as with the sarah everard case and all the text messages found of multiple officers.

Needless violence against animals is a classic sign of someone with a mental instability, sociopath etc.
