Not really. I’d say the opposite, the majority of times police enter a property it’s without a warrant, either by invitation or the powers Gavlar mentions, among others.
Getting a warrant would be far less common I expect.

Little bit of common sense goes a long way. Why would I complain if the landlord entered my unit over a weekend if there was a burst pipe in winter or some electrical fault that may burn the whole lot down? He lives next door and I trust him implicitly. How many landlords do you know that haven’t put up the rent in 25 years? ( longest tenant on the site)

I wasn't commenting on when you would or wouldn't want to allow them access, or even your specific circumstances,. It was more not using common sense but explicitly what is or not allowed within the law.

I think there's a principal at stake here & the authorities will often leverage people's sketchy knowledge of the law to their (the authority's) advantage.

I don't think the "if you've nothing to hide what's the problem" argument is one that should ever be used. Every exercise of power should be justified by a reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing or the prevention of wrongdoing.
Fishing isn't reasonable.

This 'I know my rights' (which is invariably proved to be not the case) cr@p is why policing, currently by consent in the UK, is getting harder and harder. Genuine policing time is wasted justifying how / why / when questions can be asked or searches made - for example, 'stop & search' is a good preventative action in the eyes of most, it's only seen as 'whatever'-ist by those that it will catch out, them, and the pearl-clutching, hand wringing 'activists'.
IMO it's time to go back to proper policing, 'Battle of Orgreave' style, unfortunately its the only style of policing a lot of newly-welcomed inhabitants understand, anything else is seen as weak and laughed at.
So yes, i'm one of the "if you've nothing to hide what's the problem" supporters - and I've had my collar felt a few times over the years...

1984 battle of orgreave

1974 were three day weeks - power strikes - as a kid I can remember Mother cooking jacket spuds in tin foil in an open fire in lounge (dripping in butter). Candles is what sticks in my mind - 1974 I was 7 - I can remember candles everywhere.

My Nan was posh she had candle stick holders - Mother used to drip molten wax on tea saucers and stick the candles to the saucer somehow!

I sometimes watch autmatrix tracker videos on YouTube, they show interesting cases where they track stolen vehicles and plant using gps/radio signals. They deal with police forces all over when they need access to lockups, get into trucks or the like. Sounds very similar to what the OP was describing, can't recall much talk of them getting warrants each time, some of the forces seem very switched on and willing to assist recovery quickly.
