It's a basic chemical - I have a few kilos on a shelf - it's used as a flux for brazing for one thing.

Just thinking about it, borax solution will be acidic so why are the yanks going on about PH9, will have to go and look and make sure I didn't misread.

Well that is another step done, got the post processor altered for Fusion so that at the end of the cut the Z retracts fully up. Never bothered before on the old table but with the 10 or 20 seconds of air after finishing I think it would get a bit splashy

Nah, it is stone cold after a wee cut like that and probably the water splashing up on the back of the cut will keep things cooler even in longer cuts.

Borax is another of these chemicals that are only available to "business" users. Like creosote and that sort of thing

Does that work? I bought a couple off amazon to put on the torch, but was worried bout it overheating the tip? Its just so that when I glance across at it I dont get flashed when it fires! Gets boring after a few times

OK. Was more worried about it trapping heat and making the tip over heat or is that not likely? Not certain just didn't want to damage anything

Try your water 10mm below the top of the slats that works best for me on Steel. But I’ve not done tonnes of ali

Not sure what I had it at, it is at the top of the aluminium slat holders so I suppose about 25mm below the top of the slats.

What is your soft sense? It’s so much more refined than the swift cut version and faster too

Sheet of 3m steel was with me first thing so got it hauled round and put on the table. Managed easily myself which is something I would never have managed with the previous table, so very happy with that.

Got it cut up into the slats.

I was going to run along with the plasma and cut the second set of slats free but was just as quick with the grinder.

A couple of slats cut to length and placed in to see what they are like.

I do have a problem though and I am going to have to put the slave motor back on. As can be seen the finish is jagged and worse on the slats that are furthest from the motor side of the gantry. Not an issue for this but definitely needs sorted before I do any more.

I have now drained the table.

No marks or anything with the washing soda but if left for a long period I think it would eventually have shown issues so best with it out and I will get some borax or something.

Plenty of sludge though, lots from the steel but also a lot that was left on the table before I filled and also a load falling off the slats.
