I am not wanting to have to drag them out unless there is a good chance you will take them if they are working. If they are working and you decide shipping is too costly then it means I have to try and get them back and where they are is not the easiest of places to get to.
I can understand you are reluctant to commit as they are an unknown at the moment but if you will definitely take them if they are working then I will get them hauled out and tested as soon as possible.

Thank you for reply and advice il try that..I have rang a few suppliers of oil and it is ridiculous price lots won't even entertain me.!..."young and sons" who supplied and reconditioned Oxfords said it's £200 + for oil..lots of people say there not worth doing up or changing oil as outdated and a modern up to date equivalent is money better spent hence nobody wants one! I disagree as I used one 30 years ago throughout my apprenticeship in welding and it could weld every day all day!!lovely smooth delivery of power .. Not to mention the sentimental value it has to me,iv only ever seen one in bits when I was an apprentice when maintenance man was doing repairs as it had broken terminals as had been abused! Not through reliability failure!!!
have you actually removed the transformer and checked the oil before you start spending on any its not like an oil change on a car where it gets dirty and carboned up. when you lift the tranny out its less than half full .here's a post of a members welder exposed https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/pickhill-bantam-180a-refurb.81778/Hi can anyone recommend cheapest place to get hold of transformer oil for my pickhill bantam welder?
