Filled up yesterday, car in front topped her tank up and filled a can. Less than £20. I suppose if you were going for the can then topping up makes sense? Maybe?

as far as i understand it the prices are like gold and silver and bought on long term futures which must be locked in..

Living very rurally my Mrs has finally learnt not to run about on fresh air, like she used to when we lived in the burbs. Bit of a bummer getting to the garage ( 10 miles) finding them shut, or a waiting delivery when its 15 to the next garage. When we first moved here, it was common for the old owners to run out. Its owned by a bugger outfit now so far better.
I always fill the tank, just habbit.

The market price is different to the price of actually recieving a tanker of crude at a refinery. A bit like the steel price and what you actually pay.So price of crude has dropped after a ceasefire agreement, no excuse for any more rises but will prices drop?

Plus any petrol that is bought today or this week would have been refined at the higher crude price. It will take time for cheaper fuel to get to the pumps.

When I fill the scoot I always fill a 5l can to top up the C125 as it only has a 3.5l tank. Someone on the C125 forum achieved 202mpg, 180 is common.

I dont know about in your area, but here the price rise was very gradual, it took three weeks of the war for E10 to rise by 10p, with a lot of demand, long queues and pumps running out.
Where as its risen by near 20p in the last two weeks.

I filled up just before. jumped 5p the day it started and has steadily risen daily to be 194.9 at my local Tesco. Still the cheapest.

I do the same for my AFS110i Honda wave - fill 3.7l tank up and 5l can then top up.
My Honda Wave will average 130 ish mpg - but that is town stuff with one hill - thru the gears and me treating throttle like on/off switch (plus I no lightweight).
Reckon on constant steady flat run with no wind - 160+ mpg would be achievable. Or even more..?

I need some diesel for my fergie tractor , but loath to take a can in at the moment , with everybody believing oh there s another one stocking up..think when I do it will be at 10pm on a rainy evening .

Exactly what I did last Friday. The can was strategic, the top-up was tactical.
If anyone was watching and judging, they got two virtual fingers.
I'd I'd been deliberately hoarding it wouldn't have been a 10L jerry.
Same here for the tractor, digger, lawnmowers, chainsaws and quad - I look like I am hoarding but its all for machines at home!
