Our local refinery in Warren, Pa. only get's it's crude oil from Canada, there is a pipeline heading due north to Niagara Falls.

And their prices go up just like everyone else.

Shell stations haul from a tank farm in Cleveland (pipeline to Houston)
Others pull from a pipeline down near Pizzaborg.
Still others pull from barges sent up the o-HI-o river.
Refinery in Bradford, pa.
Refineries in Toledo, and other Ohio locations.

Dunno, it all goes in the one pot anyway. Otoh, you can easily lose everything in some places that have no socialised health system.

Personally I'd rather they simplified the entire tax system rather than stealth taxing every pot available with a hugely overcomplicated system. But this will stray into politics so probably best left. My view with fuel is that if its cheaper people will do more, travel more and being out more, they will spend more leading to greater tax revenues elsewhere.

for major surgery, and they announced a gofundme page was set up to help defray the medical cost's.

The US is a much bigger place, so fuel being cheaper per litre doesnt nessasarily mean they are spending less.
