Don't tell me that I was walking like John Wayne as I left the shop as it was... Now I feel stupid!

But in my defence it was bleeding freezing this winter and at the time I thought that was a small price to pay if it meant that I avoided freezing my wedding tackle off...

I use Jizer in mine, not cheap but where there's a company purchase order there's a VAT saving....
Sadly, I cocked up. A couple of weeks back I realised that the level had fallen too low for the pump to pick up. No probs, I though, I'll just chuck in a bucket of water to bring the level back up.

What's the neutraliser for Jizer? That's right: water.
So now I have 25 litres of Jizer-flavoured water that won't even clean your hands...

Anyway, where there's a company purchase order...

It was probably cheaper when you got your own container filled at the local hardware store or garage, people had paraffin heaters in those days

I remember when local hardware shop had a coin operated pump outside that would dispense a gallon into your container, showing my age again!

There was Aladdin Pink and Esso Blue Paraffin IIRC, I remember those dispensers too, didn't they have a container inside which filled up to measure the gallon when you put the coin in, and then released the lot into your own can. I think you had to hold a button in whilst filling the can in case it wasn't big enough.

I seem to remember a sightglass that filled up like you say. Used to have a paraffin heater with an inverted glass bottle drip feeding the burner head!

They were called "drip-feed" heaters, I think they were outlawed because they were a serious fire risk.

I remember cooking stoves with the inverted glass bottle, they were fitted in the camping coaches behind Sandsend Railway Station.

I use central heating oil in my parts washer, it's about 50p a litre at the moment and our local supplier (Oakleys) sells it from the pump if you don't have a bloody big tank of the stuff already! Works really well but you do need to use vinyl gloves to kleep the worst of it off your skin.
For those that don't know it's basically an unrefined parafin.

what is traffic film remover? i think ive heard of it. is it something that car cleaners use for cleaning?

its used in power washers . hot waters better than cold under pressure . it shifts everything u can paint it on neat and wash it off and it goes a long way i think the truck wash is more concentrated and burns if u get it on skin neat. i know it softens paint

I wouldn't use any type of TFR in a parts washers, most are caustic

u can get caustic free traffic film remover. it has a ph value of 10.5 mild on surfaces but removes heavy soiling
