You will be surprised how many times this works
Tried a few different kinds.
This type worked best for me

Got a heap of Seco MDT inserts off eBay a few years back and invested in a tool, total for about 50 inserts and tool was under £100.Somewhat similar to the MGMT inserts in the Iscar DGTR, used to turn with them as well. Didnt like the cost of a replacement even for business so imported a chinese variant it isnt any where near as good but £112 cheaper.
I have used them a few times with mixed results. Their Canela stuff is not Chinese or at least Canela used to be an Italian manufacturer but the rest is Chinese. I think them and Gloster Tooling are one in the same or possibly just partners or work together. This thread just reminded me I need to order some turning inserts, but for a UK based source of reasonable inserts/holders, check out www.shop-apt.co.uk
The style of parting holders I have are mix of MGMN holders (can be found under the grooving menu)
I suspect most of their stuff is sourced from China, however I've never had any problem with the quality. Any issues have been self inflicted.
yes i did one for a friend much more rigid@doubleboost Did you cut dovetails in the bigger SMB2532? I might get one to do that.
Or buy the bang good specials as used by @doubleboost .If it had been a cheap Chinese blade then I would have said par for the course. With it being a Korloy one however I wouldn't be happy as they are not just cheap rubbish. Unless you did something seriously daft I would be getting in touch with Cutwel to see what they say.
BTW next time buy the Iscar Tang Grips, on special every second month at J&L.

Can't fit a rear tool post on my Colchester.Best thing about rear mount is it's always there ready to cut only time it's removed is to fit the boring bar which is a bit big for the front toolpost

If I thought they were as good as the Iscar then I would but ....
I am guessing you are going to be correct...but I will say I have heard far less in the way of profanities on the videos than before he got the banggood parting toolIf I thought they were as good as the Iscar then I would but ....
The biggest drawback I see is that it is the old GTN insert design. There is no positive stop so the insert can be pushed to different depths in the blade depending on pressure applied. For a manual lathe it is probably not too much of a concern but for a CNC you need something that is repeatable.I am guessing you are going to be correct...but I will say I have heard far less in the way of profanities on the videos than before he got the banggood parting tool![]()
It is in this months offers, you may even be able to get free postage with the code ADVFREE
I really rate them, I have used just about every brand/style of parting blades/inserts out there and now these are the only ones I will buy.
