Being able to properly pilot a car is a source of pride for many.
Dumbing it down with gee whizz gadgets IMHO is plain wrong.
You still have to be in charge of the safe operation of the vehicle.
Self driving will work well for the OP.....

I think we may be being a little unfair here. The OP is doing a research project and a key part of research is to delve into the problem and ascertain whether there is a value there, in the real market. Often that market testing can conclude that no, there isn't a novel idea here so it's not worth pursuing (which is where market research is far cheaper than engineering research).
They're not asking us to buy or market a potential solution, just for opinion. Some of the responses already highlight the potential issues in bringing such a solution to market, so are probably extremely helpful to their original questions.
We're a generally enlightened, inquisitive, helpful mob so perhaps we could give them the benefit of the doubt and help if we can?
