Painting Question

Did you buy your Dulux in one of the discount chains like B&Q? Dulux make a special batch of paint for them which is poorer quality, that's why they can sell it so cheap!
Buy trade quality paint in a proper decorating shop, I like Crown trade paint but Dulux is good also. You will not believe the difference until you see the paints side by side. The B&Q stuff is grey by comparison & like water.
I have heard good reports of Johnstone paint & there might be one of their decorating centres near you.
To help avoid a streaky finish apply each coat at right angles to the last one. A good quality roller sleeve like a purdy also helps to apply an even thick coat. as they hold more paint.

a few of the good makes like crown and others make cheap crap paint as well as good stuff . the price says it all cheap = crap expensive = good coverage on a couple of coats

I had to paint a kitchen for somebody & they supplied the paint. They had bought the cheap water based undercoat & after 2 coats you could still see the brown showing through the nicotine stained panel door (I had washed it down). I sent her off to a decorating shop with a list for proper paint, one coat of crown oil based trade undercoat covered up the brown door!

No idea Painted it again with new tin of Dulux this afternoon, and its dried like streaky bacon again. The walls that I did last week are fine, the rollers good, i havn't missed bits or overly gone over bits twice. Dunno.

I'm not a fan of painting, you must be pulling your hair out by now, aching arms and no result.

I can understand the appeal of many professions even they're not for me but I cannot see for the life of me why someone would want to spend 8hrs a day painting.

When I used to get Which magazine years a go they used to do tests where they left painted windows out on a hill. Leyland gloss(part of Johnstones) was always in the top honours.

I love painting but I had to give it up due to shoulder & neck issues. The utility shed needs painting this year & I've had to give in & get somebody in to do it, I'm just not able!

They probably just mist coated it, might be best to just keep using thinned down coats of cheap paint till you get control of the suction and then paint with something decent.

One or 2 mist coats should be plenty to seal it but you need to let it dry fully before putting on the top coats.
