Decorating the lounge at the moment, new house (well 12 months old), painting the ceiling for the first time since the builders did it. Using matt emulsion.
First coat dried patchy, assumed the ceiling sucked up a fair bit of paint - did it a second time and its dried the same. The ceiling is about 8m x 4m and sucked up 5L in two coats.
Am i doing something wrong, does it just need another coat, should i use silk?
Paint was brand new, but i had it for maybe 18 months. Is this the problem?

Painted it again with new tin of Dulux this afternoon, and its dried like streaky bacon again. The walls that I did last week are fine, the rollers good, i havn't missed bits or overly gone over bits twice. Dunno.
