Somewhere I have a box with starchem tack cloths and some halfords paint preperation wipes which are cloth pre soaked in panel wipe. Cant find them..
But as both parts are back to primer, I can wipe with thinners before basecoat, and then straight on with clear.
Yes tried to get all the supplies, but theres a lot required.

I would wait until you have panel wipe. Don't use thinners or anthing else. Panel wipe.
Panel wipe has many other uses. It is a great degreaser and is safe with rubber and plastics. I have used it instead of brake cleaner.
If I'm going to do some painting I usually have to buy a new 5l can of it because I've used the old can up for stuff other than painting.

As he said. I would never wipe over any painted surface with thinners, you could soften the paint or cause a reaction with the next coat.
Ok on bare metal.

Epoxy primer is as good as bare metal.
I have more painting to be done, I will pick up a 5L panel wipe from local shop tomorrow even if its 40 quid.
However I have continued. Several wipes of both panels, used a lot of kitchen roll, a lot of thinners then into the tent.
In the tent I used my recently reaquired packet of five panel wipes.
Thats no good. Wiped off, try again... In my haste above, I went straight with a wet coat - thats wrong. Re adjusted gun and gave it a closed and even dusting, before two wet coat, then a drop coat.
Some success was achived.

Its done, success! Theres some defects but looks better in person I'd say, this camera doesnt do reds well. The basecoat appears to have left a lot of dust in the tent which found its way into the clear. Lesson learned for next time!
Theres a dry area along the bonnet edge that I missed on the second coat and theres a small bit where the clear distrubed the base oat and moved the black pigment, but its ok. The dry bit may need another coat, another day!

I might flat it and attempt a "flow coat".
Stressed by the mask issues, rapidly aging mix in the pot, I think I'd forgotten to blow off the panel with air before the second coat. Lots of small mistakes.
Holding the trim panel to the car in the sun and shade, its a good match, it will do. Finish on that is ok.

I had some touch up done on my car last year when we had the hot weather, what was suppoed to take 3-4 days was done in 2 with the guy saying he worked early before it became too hot, nothing to do with his rapidly upcoming holiday im sure. either way the front passenger panel came back peely. and I have been trying to think what to do about it as i dont really want to go back to the guy that did it.

I've found the same. It's a handy degreaser.
5l cheap here. Postage is £6 but you could probably find a few other items to make it worthwhile.

Camera doesnt pick it up, its like the moon!
When I did bike tank a few years ago, using Quartz clear (a sprayguns direct brand), it took an age to dry but flattened out nicely and barely any peel.

I have followed up with 2000 , 3000 just to make easier on buff polishing situation and because I had that grade paper in stock.
