I've heard this before seems hard to believe.You have to be careful doing that on bsi equipped pugs. If you don't follow the correct procedure you can cause all sorts of mysterious electrical gremlins! (google peugeot BSI reboot)
This brings flash backs following someone who had a trailer on going quicker than I would normally and cutting up the hgvs.A year on and another MOT pass today, so 14 in a row, the MIL light has been off for a year now, all it needed was the "Italian tune up" which it got when I had to follow a customer down the motorway to a job at a speed I wouldn't normally do!.
Nope, it's a 'thing' if various attached systems are not allowed to shut down gracefully. It's been a while since I was involved in PSA stuff, 30 mins shutdown comes to mind.I've heard this before seems hard to believe.

Its different in Northern Ireland. The manual here states that these years are the only years required to have a mil light and the only ones you check the sequence but if a mil light is on on any vehicle it is still a major regardless of year as it showing a fault.A MIL before these dates is not a testable item I would properly give a manual advisory .

Not necessarily. For example tyre pressure light indicating a malfunction is not a fail.Over here any warning light on the dash is a fail, not just mil!
