the motors are 440v single phase and 240v single they do run on 2phases as well. quite comon to have on rural farms that didnt have 3 phaseOldest machine i use is my Romac Air compressor, Built in 1944 It is a strange beast, ex CEGB designed for paint spraying with a 1.5hp 2 phase motor, can be run on 240 or 440 volts though i have it set up as 240 only.

Oldest machine i use is my Romac Air compressor, Built in 1944 It is a strange beast, ex CEGB designed for paint spraying with a 1.5hp 2 phase motor, can be run on 240 or 440 volts though i have it set up as 240 only. Swash plate pump with six axial cylinders arranged like the cylinders of a revolver.
Air tanks are a twin underslung arrangement made from 16mm thick tube & still clean & greasy inside. It was touted as a mobile unit but is hugely heavy so doubt it got wheeled about much!
