They're a different tooth profile to most gears.

He didn't know. Myford stuck with the Drummond spec changewheels when they took over M type production, but the gears on their own lathes are standard profile.

That's a 38 in the photo. Is that the one he's stuck for?

The gears are 14DP 14 1/2 degree PA. Look up geardxf as that will give you an STL of what you want. The 73t was Drummond's metric translation gear. The 38t is used for 19 tpi, for BSP threads.

I’m sure this isn’t all that helpful…but I inherited my grandfathers 1921 Drummond m type and along with it the instructions he hand wrote.
At the back of them there’s a pair of drawings for some gears I presume he had made up. It might have some useful dimensions.

It’s also got an alternative gearing chart. The fine feed is an adapted ml7 set I think..
I don’t know where the 63t gear came from, I presume one of Drummond’s other lathes.

I think that may be from either a pre-B else Roundbed.
