Love that tash! Reminds me of the guy in Dads Army!
@Gragson I've got my dads old license like that and some petrol rationing books.
Those petrol ration books were left over from the Suez crisis in the 50’s & stored.I was issued a petrol rationing book in the 70s (1973) along with the rest of the country. I don't think I ever used it though.
MypreMao Tse Tung era Little Red Book should still be in one of the boxes we haven't unpacked yet.
So do IMy dad still has a proper proper paper license from back in the day

I've got one of those I got mine from Ling's website.
That is interestingThey were still in storage during the Haulier's Dispute. I attended a meeting to review the priority users. They are probably still there tucked next to the Green Goddesses.
Applying to the Chinese Embassy for a free copy of Chairman Mao's Little Red Book was de rigeur in my sixth form year. I have no idea how that started!
No-one seems to have started a trend for requesting a copy of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
I have my late father's 'Nansen' Passport. Well, post WWII so not really a true Nansen.
His Royal Yugoslav Army ID and UK Alien's Registration Book complete with the various endorsements permitting him to move residence, change employer and get married. I don't think most folks realise just how controlling things were into the 1950's.
I can post any/all if anyone has an interest. Or I can just send you a link to my public tree on Ancestry.
Edit.
Ration Books and ID Cards.
Maternal Grandfather's ARP ID
Christening Certificates
Lots of stuff !
I was told they had been kept at Aston Down airfield in the old hangers, dragged out specially. There were probably lots of storage places, but that’s the only one I’m aware of.They were still in storage during the Haulier's Dispute. I attended a meeting to review the priority users. I believe all the green goddesses were sold off? Some were used here in Northern Ireland during a firefighters strike in the early 2000's but painted yellow - in order to look 'less military', not a great success it has to be said. My brother's boss owns one, I've been in it, fabulous old thing with only something like 5000 miles on the clock. Loaded with a few thousand litres of water I wouldn't fancy driving it anywhere in an emergency on its old bar grip tyres! They were still in storage during the Haulier's Dispute.
