Office Diesel Heater Install

It's annoying when it happens, isn't it.

The effect it has is to make it so that you get to the point where you think sod it, it's not worth the hassle of posting photo's, or asking advice, & just crack on with something, when in reality it would be nice to just have some advice, or a second opinion.

I'm in some photography groups on Facebook, you either get ignored or snide comments. Unless you post pictures of cameras then you get hundreds of likes

Luckily I do photography for me and don't need likes to validate what I do

100% Matt. It can become confrontational in a very short time as l like to reply to all comments but contempt for stupidity means now l just do not reply. Not keen on that.

I Fitted one about a month ago in my workshop, i have it on the lowest setting, runs 24/7, i'll not put up a picture incase anyone gets their knickers in a twist, i burn kerosene in mine £13-14 per week the odd time it gets turned up to max for a little extra heat,

I made the mistake of asking a question on one of the Faecesbook CDH groups about the priming button on my controller. Gods teeth it pulled the dregs of society out to pillory me for even considering the thought of priming the system. I had one fella who took the time to answer and had a sensible conversation with him, the rest of the festering seanuts can F.R.O.

You can't claim to have properly used Facebook groups, until you've been kicked out of one for daring to question the response of a "regular contributor" with an actual understanding of what was being asked.

In my case, it was why 3D printer motherboards could be damaged by moving axes when the power was switched off, and the regular didn't take kindly to me explaining the actual mechanism behind it, and the fact it takes a real effort to cause the damage, and that simply pushing the bed slightly wouldn't cause a problem.

Can't get red diesel at pumps any more

Kerosene is at pumps and cheaper than clear diesel (god forbid!)

Yeah I'm not driving around farms looking to buy 25L of red diesel from them.

For what I use in my garage heater, 10 - 14L per season I am perfectly happy to use kerosene.

Each to their own.

I run mine from a leisure battery charged by solar.
Heater all outside, just ducting hot air inside.

Tend to only turn it on to raise the temperature up a bit to start with.
Quick 1/2 hr blast on full, then turn it off.

kero apparently burns cleaner anyway so not a bad option anyway!

Well sort of.
It's under/inside what was built as a log store originally. So the front is open, but the roof overhang is a couple of feet.

i have 4" insulated ducting and some s/s bends and straight pipe,

I was half thinking about removing one of the small opening windows and making a kinda sandwich of wood either side of the frame and some PIR insulation board inside the frame, with some bolts and wingnuts to clamp in all together, then drill 4" holes for the inlet and hot air out

Wall is single skin concrete block. I just stitch drilled a hole of the right size for the duct and knocked it out.
Fed duct through and sealed it with bubble wrap crammed round the gaps

Comes out under my work bench, so pumps heat right at me.
