Odd Repair?

Thanks. Yeah, always loved the old school cars with nothing interfering between you and the car. The smell of fuel, no traction control, ABS etc. In fact, this GTR did have a broken ABS unit until this morning. No point trying to fix it as I don't like it anyway so pulled it all out. Makes for a much cleaner engine bay and more predictable when on track. Heavy old beast too!

I can only put in an hour or so here and there with an occasional morning or afternoon thrown in there to work on her but bit by bit I'll get her done.

Maybe I should ask the mods to move this to the project section so I can update as I progress. Would be nice to have it documented and get input from you knowledgeable people. I much prefer forums to Facebook groups for the longer format of discussion.

takes a lot of time n skill to repair wheel arches without ripples even if u can get the panel.....
even then the panels dont always fit.....
client bought a new front panel for this V dub...the original for the mold must have had a front end crash repair...
took over 10 hours to modify the new panel to fit.....

just do the best u can plus get some kinda wax under body treatment...spray....every thing helps....
ps....park the repaired panel in the sun for a while, it'll help the wax soak in....

All the shagged out end of line pressing tools end up in the hands of the aftermarket panel companies, a few years down the line most of them will be way off oem spec .

Is this a common thing to do to repair a rear arch or some kind of bodge?

sadly both. seen it done by so called restorers. my ranchero, they left out the metal. filler from door post to rear bumper

Stories like this make me wonder if I should start doing car restorations. But I'd be too slow
