Idiots tell you your work is crap, decent people offer to show you how to do it better or give you pointers as to where you are going wrong. Don't mind the idiots.

I am not a welder but that looks reasonable to me. Certainly a lot going for it to work with rather than crap...BUT thats just my uneducated non welder opinion.
    So just dont get disheartened.

It's his an miss with the head as it's the floor of a tipper to the bulkhead I get penatrstio through on other side so don't want it too much or too much heat to distort the bulkhead lol

I think you should learn how to arc weld, you have the hang of mig welding, so far as I can see.

I reckon try arc its more challenging and fun, and a stronger weld.

The fault lies with the person commenting on your work.

If they are unhappy with your standard of work stating it is crap helps nobody, they should explain what they want and expect, detailing why your work is not meeting the standard required.

A good firm would then help you to obtain the standard required.

I suspect there is more to the story, is trade slow at the moment, are they over manned or is there no space for another welder who happens to be a friend of the owner plus a few more reasons for making you uncomfortable at work.

    Dirty metal = dirty welds.

Clean the areas your welding back to shiny metal with grinder/flap disk.

Noel you have to put up with criticism in the workplace too. I remember batches of pieces I did being thrown out and having to do them again but better. That happened irregularly.

You aren't paid to enjoy yourself. Pity! It's a damn pity. But that's the way it is.

On the same token Ned if he can up his game there is a goiod chance he will demand a bit of respect from his employers. Nothing wrong with enjoying your work as long as everybody is happy with it.
