actually your under no obligation to run around to get an alternative payment if card is the prefered choice or the only choice if there machine fails at the timeYou don't have the right to simply not pay for a meal just because you couldn't pay at the time you ate it.
If you can't pay at the time because of a technical issue then you arrange to pay by another means later. So long as you both agree on the time and means its no problem.
if you ate it and there machine dosnt work it isnt your fault the company should close its doors
the company has no right to hold something as ransome until you find an alternative payment method and neither is calling the police under theft as there machine is not working
which has been the norm for many customers its a civil matter not a police matter an address being given is adequate enough
the company has every right to send you a reminder to pay your meal bill before civil court action or anyone can walk in at a latter time to pay the meal bill via card makes no difference
