Bet you £0.88 it is not.Seriously? With this lot?
Cash is legal tender and retailers no matter who they are should be legally obliged to accommodate it,
'legal tender' has no relevance in a shop or similar scenario.
Why should a seller be legally obliged to accept cash? Sellers are allowed to accept whatever payment method they choose, any government interference in their freedom to do this would be wrong.
Because the retail outlet doesn't HAVE to trade with you. They state the method of payment they want - could be half-rabbits, coconuts, or 1/2" whit full nuts . . . or plastic.Because there are many elderly folk out there that dont have or want to use plastic or know how to use these phone payment systems. Why should anyone be excluded from using a retail outlet because they have cash?

a bit of a wee problem there then
My local Chinese went cash only at the start of lock down
They did incredibly well and the owner was cruising around in a Bentley
Now they are closed.
Money laundering and illegal migrants .......
Number of years ago, I ended up in one of USA's airports waiting for a connection . . had cash, determined not to get get tied up in using my own card for work expenses . . . no food establishment in the entire place took cash! That was annoying!
Bit simpler than that . . . hungry I had to give in and use my own card - made sure I had a company one future trips. Bound to occur again as I've just chucked it back due to how they wish to run the accounts on swapping to a new provider.Aye, without a card you're a 'non=person'

I use paypal, its fine, you do have to pay fees unless it sent family & friends, if you want the seller/buyer protection you cant use family & friends and only send to the buyers registered addressdo many of you take PayPal for things you sell. ?
