Noise cancelling ear buds / ear muffs , which one ?

I got some custom moulded ones from ACS custom for entertainment events. They have lots of different 'filters' which you can choose from which block different frequency bands and different amounts. They do a specific one for percussive sounds like gun shots. But I would email them and tell them your specific needs - they were vey helpful with queries. Because they're specialists they are more likely to know what they're talking about than a reseller.

The other downside of in ear is they don’t protect the wee bone behind the ear lobe, muffs do.

As @sako243 said, push to talk.

A button on the side that will activate a little microphone and speaker to allow sound through at a safe volume when it's held down.

In industrial settings with constant wideband noise, or noise at frequencies similar to the human voice it's a mixed blessing at best.

But for a situation where you're protecting against random bursts of noise (like firearms or explosives), it's a useful way to communicate whilst staying protected.

I think it's an Acronym for "Electronic Noise Cancelling"

A brief search reveals that BOSE and David Clark are the main suppliers of such headsets for helicopter operations.

I’m sorry I can’t, when I got them there was no info with them. I tried a colleague who had worked at Racal but she said no info was allowed out! I had to work out the wiring as they needed a power supply for the active bit. I can’t even do a search now as I’ve just moved and like everything else I own I haven’t a clue which box it in.

very good , the whole squad except two asked to come with me satuday ,and did, I apolagised to everyone the other week, and they all said same thing , you don t need to , it was nt you , and everyone offered to go with me anytime . the two that did nt are the peacocks..who were decidedly looking miserable going around , its a shame as I hate confrontation /drama. and there was no need for it.
