Dangerous move, too much temptation
Haven't made a huge amount of progress but important steps forward and so much easier with the jig although it's slightly too heavy / sketchy to spin it by your self so I do have to call on a mate who lives a few mins away to help every now and again.
I moved on to an area that I've been avoiding for ages and for good reason as it took me ages to get a piece sorted and I completely cocked up the first part I made so I called on a mate who is more artistic than me when it comes to metal work. Between us, we got it done but many hours of frustration with this one lol. As thanks for that, I removed the rear aerial on his Supra and welded up the hole.
This area has 3 layers of crap to deal with!

Part Repaired
I also had a small fire in the car which was quite the shock
I had the car on its side and was welding away and couldn't figure out why I couldn't see properly, turns out a spark had hit and caught fire to the last little bit of sound deadning that was still stuck to the rear seat area. This was just enough to burn the seat belt buckle enough to ruin it 
So I'd like to say lesson learned but there is literally nothing left in the car to catch on fire so no changes to make 
After the above I moved on to the chassis rail rust in this area. I forgot to take a before pic but both top layers of metal were toast. This has 3 layers as two parts of the rail enter each other and then inside that there is another support bracket type thing. I wanted this area protected as much as possible and although weld through is ok, I wanted something a bit extra so spent the time to spray with Electrolux and placed stickers where my plug welds would be.

Top and first bottom layer on, will tackle the next bottom piece and side when I spin the car the other way.
The area above the rear subframe was a real pig to get cleaned up as it has so many nooks and cranny to get in to. I bought some carbide burrs for the Dremel in the end and this did speed things up but there really doesn't seem to be a great way to get this done well and completely apart from good old time and patience. Maybe I'm a bit OCD with getting every last spec of old paint off... I tend to just put on a podcast on the sound cancelling headphones when it comes to these jobs.

Next up is more stripping of old paint and more rust repairs. Will probably tackle the front left of the chassis rail as that paves the way to then get the gearbox tunnel painted fully.
