The 13A issue has been beaten to death on this forum.

As I said, and others; it will work with an annoyance of blowing the fuse on long runs.

The only other option is to install a 16A socket. Any 150A transformer machine will be the same.

Oh, how I wish it had!
Beaten to death and buried in a shallow grave but no, it keeps coming back to haunt us!
If only people would actually use the forum search they'd clearly see that a 13A plug is perfectly safe.

Get yourself down to machine mart on a VAT fee day, and get the 160TM for £280. Weld Equip are among the most expensive out there.

Machine Mart are box movers who know 3 parts of sod all about what they sell whereas weldequip is run by a person who knows more about welders than most of us can dream about and who gives forum members free tech support whenever they need it, whether it leads to him getting a sale or not.
Get that sort of service from a spotty kid behind a MM counter? I doubt it.

I will be honest I have looked on machine mart and I also have a voucher for a vat free purchase. Yes I can get it cheaper from them but I like to support my forums whenever I can.

As soon as my funds are cleared I will be buying from weldequip my new welder and a roll of .8 wire too

As been previously stated the after sales from mm from a spotty kid is not worth the saving lol.

I dont think thats a fair comment really, I have been searching for a new mig and weldequip are about the same if not cheaper than a lot of other retailers and dont forget he includes items with his welders others dont e.g. regulators etc plus you get longer warranties on some welders and expert advice

I have not purchased from him as I got agood deal from a local specialist with excellent advice and backup but i have checked out his website and seen his helpful posts on the forum.

Dont forget a good backup service like weldequip is invaluable and worth every penny compared to the box emup and chuck em out companies

Just to clarify, Weldequip is not the forum shop.
The forum has a longstanding relationship with Weldequip based on the many years the owner has been a member and the help and support he's given countless other members, which is why we have the link to the shop and recommend them whenever we can.

Just a thought but is .8 wire necessary? We use .6 on all of our stuff including american motors and Discoverys'.

.8 normally comes into effect from 2mm up if I read correctly

Well the new welder idea has gone out of the window for the forseeable future.
I hate the tax man.

Just had a letter saying I have not paid enough tax and owe about £850

Hope he takes £5 per month installments

Funny that , i neary got that back in a refund yesterday

If you are paye ask them to add it to next years tax code
