For what it's worth I also use Tig gloves. You can start to feel the heat if you're doing long runs of weld compared to a set of Mig gloves but personally I'm a fan of the enhanced dexterity they offer.Morning,
Just a quick update, So I won the GYS easymig 140. It turned up on Friday and I had a quick play around with it yesterday.
The machine is basically brand new, it's obviously been bought and just sat there never taken out of the packaging. The earth clamp and MMA leads were still in their vacuum sealed bags.
First impressions, it's a tiny little machine, looks and seems pretty well built, also quick and easy to set up. My first time using a Euro torch as well which is great.
I really struggled to get any NR-211 wire in the 1kg spool size, so ended up getting some GYS Toparc, Screwfix conveniently had a deal on which seems like a really good price.....if you want a load of flux core wire.
I will be welding outside, so I've stuck with the no Gas route for the moment.
I welded two 5mm mild steel plates together and it was brilliant. I put a decent V between them and built up the weld and was really impressed with the power of the little machine, didn't even have it on full power. Put the piece in my vice and gave it a good hammering and it bent nicely elsewhere so looks like a good start.
My old mask was knackered, so searched this forum for some advice and ended up getting the ESAB A41 savage. It's great for the money, I was really impressed with it.
Also got ESAB T3000 gloves as I ermm used to weld without gloves...... But I'm older and wiser now! Other than looking a bit like a magician they are really good. I'm aware they are tig gloves but for the thin sheet stuff I'll be welding I'd rather have a bit more dexterity then using heavy conventional mig gloves.
Just wanted to say thanks everyone for the advice and how useful the forums been to get me back up and running with a welding.
Cheers
