Superb is probably an understatement, so can we have a close up on the data plate? tech spec.
, I haven't got data plate as it got destroyed but I remember that lowest setting is about 16 V and 40 A and highest is 40something V and about 300A , mine does have slightly lower bottom setting so it's a bit less than 40A. I rewound primary coil of the transformer as it was partly burned which was caused by faulty power selector switch.

Do faulty selector switches often cause the primaries to burn out, do you (or anyone else) know?
Don't know, but I do know the 12position switch on mine was really graunchy, so I had the bright idea to dismantle and rebuild. Lots of scope for messing that job up but pleased I did it.
... On the subject of switches; what's the extra switch at the top of the panel on the lower unit that's been put in? A separate on/off switch?
