I have a tank in the back yard, except it’s out of certification and can’t be replaced without putting it bang in the centre of my new workshop, new spacing rules.Underground gas tank? We have either oil or calor gas round our way (nearest gas main 6 miles) all are above ground tanks and yes some are in front gardens due to new rules - as opposed to the rules in place when our bungalow was built (1992), hope I never have to replace the oil tank.
Hence why I was thinking of burying one in the front yard. Several places around here have them.
If you have a suitable system it keeps the installation cost down, you will need a new style very very insulated water tank. We used engenera for our system, can recommend them as suppliers and installers.
My central heating seems fairly new, and not even sure I want/need a hot water tank, if the unit will supply enough to do washing up. We have no bath tub, an electric shower, and a modern self heating washing machine. I shall research Engenera.

And when/if daughter goes back to uni there is only me and dog here.
We are running at £40 per week for everything, that includes two women working from home with the assocaited washing machine and tumble dryer running every day, cooking lighting, water heating. The bungalow holds at a pleasant 18.5c and nothing to change refill or carry. There have been at least three other installations in our village after ours so it must be getting popular.
That sounds good to me as i’m paying £72 every two weeks or so for this gas, plus about £50 a month electric as I supplement the central heating with a fan heater when I first get up on cold mornings. We have no gas oven either, just a two burner hob we rarely use, that will be replaced with Induction when the time comes.
