New to the site as a member but have browsed things for a while here and there
Got myself a Harrison L5 in April that I gave a good clean up and am currently using
But after getting used to a bigger lather after my amadeal 7x14 I already wanted something newer and see a used and unfortunately forgotten about Harrison M300 on gumtree last week
It's been owned since new but the owner sadly past away and the previous health issues mean it wasn't touched for years
I turned up to view, and it all works lovely albeit with lots of surface rust and flaky paint
Nose run out is fine, slide ways look and feel fine, carriage is nice from one end of bed to the other, minimal backlash, pulled top cover off and all gears are lovely with no teeth missing
Not had gearbox off yet but I will do soon.
Runs at all speeds nicely with no horrible noises
It was converted to 240v single phase with clutch and soft start from new! Not sure how I'm gonna run it yet depending on how much power it's got to what I'd need etc and I don't have 3 phase at home yet
Lathe is imperial with the 4TPI lead screw which is not my 1st choice but still cuts metric threads so happy days
Also comes with coolant system but not powered that up to see if it works yet as it needs a bloody good clean out after about 10 years
I removed what I could from the lathe whilst I was there to lighten the second trip, don't think the gap bed had ever been removed before but I was looking for the M16 lifting eye thread but could t find it!
Lathe come with lots and lots of stuff,
2 X machine Lamps
Numerous Bar stock
Numerous Drill bits, morse taper and stander
End mills
Micrometers
Chuck jaws
Taps and dies and gauges
Rules
Pratt burnerd 6" 3 jaw chuck
Pratt 4 jaw 8" chuck
Drive plate for lathe dogs
20mm Mt3 Jacobs drill chuck
Fixed steady (new)
Mt5 to Mt3 spindle adapter
Spare gears like an 84T metric
Mt3 to mt2 adapter
2 X mt3 dead centres
2 X carriage stops
Rear top slide tool holder
Some kind of collet holder but not sure if it's all there yet?
And still have 2 rubble sacks of stuff to go through to see if there's anything lathe related in them as the family member just bagged everything in 1 so a lot of rubbish old stuff but definitely seen some collets and lathe tools etc in there
Gonna give the machine a real good clean up and check everything again, new oils and maybe a paint
I pick the actual lathe up Saturday as I only bought the other parts home after viewing and agreeing a price Sunday just gone
I think this is a genuine 1 owner well looked after machine that just needs some tlc, the owner was an engineer and had their own firm so it's never seen abuse and judging by all the old swarf and chips he mainly turned Delrin and brass
Started to wire wool and sctichbrite up some of the parts as can be seen in some of the photos,
Don't think I've added them in any particular order as not sure how on this forum yet
Will no doubt be asking lots of questions so apologies in advance
Thanks
Marc
