I've just stumbled onto this site and it looks great. Regarding your welder, the major causes of problems with nearly ALL migs is a: dirty liner - I blow mine out on a regular basis.
b:wire feeder roller presure set too high - this can distort the wire and cause feed problems, very bad when welding ally.
c: The workshop gremlins decide that you shall have A BAD HAIR DAY and turn your gas off!
Hope this can be of use. I am not familiar with your welder but mine was just too brutal on light gauge metal even using 0.6 wire as delivered, I eventually wired in 6x10 000mfd caps in parallel and centre tapped them to the transformer, the result was super smooth performance on anything from 22 gauge sheet up to 1/2" plate.
In closing Vauxhall won many many races and also made the wolds greatest truck - The Mighty Bedford.

It's not something I need, but it sounds like it could be useful to folk with those el-cheapo under controlled mig sets that so many people have ended up with.
