What we paid for the land is similar to what a new middle end 4x4 would cost and all the materials have been eked out of my monthly salary. That's why I spent £600 on a 1999 Terios and not £10000 on a used Defender to get me up to the field.I am so envious of this, having the room to build something like this. Oh well when i win the lottery i suppose.
I agree, we saw some beautiful slate faced buildings in Cornwall but unfortunately to get through Prior Notification we had to specify timber cladding. That would look nice with tile facing over the stud work and would last so much longer than timber faced.

It's about deciding what you would rather have in your life, we haven't been on holiday abroad for about 5 years and only the occasional short break in the South West.
It helps to have a good selection of tools though, I've always been the kind of person who, if tasked with getting some new furniture, will go out and buy a planer, a saw and some timber and build it myself rather than buy something from Oak Furniture Land or the ilk.
True, but you live in the country where land is cheap and less sought after than the cities. I live near the city where land is hugely expensive, but there is plenty of jobs available. If i was to move to the country, much less work on offer, but i could probably build whatever i wanted. Swings and roundabouts.
I have a bandsaw mill so whatever I clad it with I will be cutting myself. There is a house near us done in shingles, it looks well. However i think feather edges larch or vertical will work out cheaper and quicker
Or you could be a naughty boy and buy that stuff used in some build projects, that looks like planks, but is some kind of man made board that requires no maintenace.

but there nothing better than seeing your kids driving around a field at the age of 10, building dens, playing in the stream.
When you live in an urban area it's like you spend your whole time trying to be somebody, when you move to the countryside you become somebody immediately.

A back actor does put a lot of stress into the 3 point linkage so I wouldn't use one as a permanent fixture, I've noticed that the top linkage pin gets bent over time so I tend to replace it regularly.Looks fantastic love the tractors, got a quick question about the and this isnt a criticism i have heard its best not to use 3 point linkage hoe attschements as they can wreck the tractors 3 point hitch and back end real quick. Whats your experiance been like with them.
You seem to have got a lot of space for your money you will struggle to get 0.2 acers for that much up here, not so long ago it would have bought you 5 or 6 no bother have seen the occasional plots of 0.15 acers up here in the middle of nowhere go for upwards of 80 grand usually got views of the grey corries/ben nevis mind. I think in relative term id have to get s hold of a farm yard as a lot seem to be being sold off seperately from the msin farm now with all the buildings and an acer or two on the side.
Totally agree with its what you want in life buy a landy and you will spend half your money fixing it. I think thats why i seem to go nowhere fast.
