Never seen That size when I started there was only Imperial, Yes coper tube anneal'd will not tend to split but you have to have the wall thickness to A. expand B. to have enough metal not to fatigue in use

If you've not already been, I'd suggest you have a visit to "North East Restoration Club" just up the road at Washington.

They have a lot of experienced members and a well set up workshop that's free to use, shame they can't put together a decent website ! They have a facebook page (I don't), or for address see http://nerclub.tripod.com/
I am / was a member, very cheap (£30 a year ?), well worth visiting (take the pipes with you and ask)

Saturday is often a good time to find it busy with lots of folk around.

Thanks for that Pete, complete suprise to me such a place exists only 40 mins away from me. Will certainly be paying them a visit, apart from free run of the workshop I notice they also have a car trailer availble to members to rent for a mere £10.

Alright if your engine is static but not really practical at the side of the road every time you park up. The engines are noted for oil pressure problems & the pipes are in the region of 84 years old!

It's not unknown for engines with problematical oil lift at cold to have a retro-fit manual or motorised priming pump, even back in the day.

Funny, you should mention that Farside, its an avenue I have been looking into. There are 12V self priming pumps that seem to be used by the motoring competition fraterniy which would exactly fit the bill. I need to find out if they include a one way valve, which would make them perfect.
Modern cars have their mechanical oil pumps in the sump (a practice, no doubt born of early motoring experience), being totally submerged all they can ever pull is oil.

It's something I first looked into about 45 years ago when I was running a Bedford CF van with the OHC Vauxhall engine. The oil pressure on that took ages to build up from a cold start, and I was slightly concerned about longevity of the crank, etc. I already knew some aero engines had oil primers and looked at something suitable for my own use, but there wasn't much available at a sensible price back then. Fortunately, the crank survived and I never heard of any trouble associated with the laggardly oil habits of that engine, so I was worried over nothing.
However, I know the idea works, as in my research I found that priming pumps went way back, to the very early days of motoring.

When I had an MGB in 1964 always noisy on first start of the day, Tecalamite I think made a reservoir with a solenoid valve that injected about 1\4 pint of oil into the gallery via a T this screwed in the block where oil pressure sender fitted, press solenoid sw watch pressure gauge as it started to drop start, as there was plenty of pressure cold the NRV in reservoir refiled at cold oil presure for next time, the oval racers\drag still use a bigger system to counteract G not quite the same ides or operation

Might be a cheaper idea than the 12V lube pumps as most only pump once oil temp reaches 60C, the ones which pump cold oil are mucha dinero.

Update. Have now found out somebody else from the owners club has been trying to replace his oil pipes. Big plus is he has the 1/2” dies for Sykes Pickavant brake pipe maker missing from my SP BPM (I only bought 3/16” & 1/4”” never thought I need anything bigger) & hes prepared to lend me them. Hes also been experimenting with W10 filler for the pipe bending. Ive just purchased a 1/2” solder nipple from Ebay, so just need to source some 1/2” copper pipe & might be in production phase shortly.

I like the look of that. We had something similar on our hydraulic packs (backed up by Nitrogen) when I used to work.
Didnt think they'd have something similar for car systems. Thanks for the link.
