About 4-6 mm make sure there's no carbon build up or a short on a lead. You should be able to start the machine and check for a spark but I wouldn't recomend pulling the trigger with the burner out
If the fuel filters are blocked the fuel doesn't always spray correctly and ignite. There should be a filter inside the fuel pump and one on the back of the burner nozzle.
Its a bit limited then unfortunately. The best way is the way it already is. Try removing the pressure nozzle & see if it will draw any detergent with the trigger pulled.
