Im rebuilding some diffs, and the front coupling and output shafts were originally zinc plated.
Clearly, the machined areas were done after plating.
As these are now a fairly rusty mess, giving them to a plater isnt going to work as the acid clean will etch the bearing & seal surfaces.
I can get these derusted ok using an aqua blaster. So a nice finish ready for painting.
Given i cant plate, i need to paint. Really, i want them to be silver, so from a visual perspective it looks similar to how it would have done when new.
Question is, is there a one coat silver product out there. Im not finding anything. Were it a straight colour, id just buy some Jotun epoxy and spray it one. Trying to avoid primer and then base and then clear on a diff coupling!!
Any ideas please?
