Did that big wound pop open, is the skin just missing from the top, or did they leave it open because of a compartment syndrome?

Was working on my leg for 10 hours when I came round I was in loads of pain so they knew it was compartment syndrome, So they took me back down to cut the leg open.

They could not close it back up so used a little skin from top of my leg, the picture is just after the new skin was put on. I just have to get used to the scar

Yes They are...... also have lots more bars and plates inside but they are staying in, so no profit to be made

Only 1 plate coming out because its pushing through my skin on my ankle. I might ask to keep it.....

I broke my leg a couple of years ago but nothing came out of the skin.
6 months off work, didn't have a computer and got bored sh1.less.

Hope it all goes well and you recover ok.

One of the plates on the side of my leg goes right down just past my ankle, and there is like a loop on it that sits on my ankle and its that whats pointing out, it feels like its coming through.

So they said when the bones have heeled they will take that one out.

That put a shiver through me.

Use harnesses in work, they reckon if you are stuck hanging in one for more than 10 -15 minutes you need to be injected with something before being released to prevent DEATH from the toxins that will have accumulated in your blood, when it can't circulate properly.

Allways have a stanley handy now when using one.

I'm starting to hobble about on my crutches now,i'm getting there slow but sure. Still not able to play with my new welder and other tools i've got while being sat on the net. I just know i've spent loads of money

All be worth it when i'm up and about.there is nothing else i can do but buy buy more tools That's my excuse....

Thats were being single at the moment is good

But i am getting some good tools together,I have most of the tools i need at the moment, I know you can't have enough but got the most importent ones.

I need some good drill bits so i'm shoping for them at the mo, It's good when all you can do is sit shoping online. Can't wait to get out and use them all, the new portamig is the first for the test.

I work on a ERRV in the north sea. A few years ago, the lads launched the FRC to collect a 'governor man' from land. These boats are held in a cradle on a davit. They hang from a 'main hook' but also have a bow line to keep the boat alinged with the cradle/davit. As the boats hits the water the main hook is released and the boat pulls ahead, just enough to give slack to release the bowline. Then the correct procedure is to go astern away from the mothership, until clear and then away. However this time the cox'n decided to just open both throttles - so thats 2 x 90hp, 2stroke outboards, pushing about 1500Kg of FRC to 40knts in a couple of seconds!! - The bowline caught on the hull and as it went tight it yanked the FRC through 90degrees, flipping my mate backwards ****-over-tit into the bigblue, the boat continues its turn and the props missed his head by an inch or 2!!!!
Needless to say brown trouser moment and someone got a large bollikin!!

had a few other incidents but you really dont want to hear about them - not happy endins

Its suspension trauma from hanging in harnesses. It works the same was as Crucifixion. The problems start with when your blood flow go lows to your head and you pass out working on the basis when you pass out you fall over and blood starts to flow. Problem is if your suspended you can't fall over and you die pretty quickly. You have a simpler problem if you are in a trench and it collapses and crushes your legs.

When i was about 6 my bed side light stopped working so i unscrewed the lamp and tested for voltage with my finger! not done it since and get very anal with safe isolation on site.

Hehe, sounds like you were destined to become a spark .
When I was a kid I used to love messing around with a soldering iron, I was poking about with it one day inside an extension lead socket. (though I can't work out why I would have been doing it) Anyhoo, I kept seeing this pretty blue spark each time I touched the soldering tip to the part in question and couldn't work out why.....yes, it was plugged in and turned on

Oh and when we rebuilt our kitchen I left all the cables loose with no sockets attached so the plasterer could skim the walls. I insulated the first cable in the run but forgot that a ring main is fed from both ends . Luckily it was only me that got the tingle, not the plasterer.

And thinking of plugs. I was wiring a new three phase one into the fuseboard about two months ago. I may have neglected to turn off the power first..... My arm was numb for half an hour!

its amazing how many people forget to disconect BOTH ends of the ring. Painters are the worst for going into a house thats not finished and turning all the circuits on to get some lights on! I once picked up a faulty therter light with both hands that wass on that gave me a hell of a belt...
