if he had gone any faster it would have been finished before he started itNah, I reckon he had a flux capacitor in that poly tunnel.....
Loved reading that best thing I've read on here, well done
That's a good point. If it is going out on self-drive hire it might want some big prang bars from the top corners of the cabin to the prow. Makes an awful mess if you catch the cabin on a bridge. Just a thought.
Lots of Narrow boat cabins have near vertical cabin sides nowadays, which the bridge holes were not designed for, the original working boats have steeply angled in cabin sides and they don't catch on bridge holes.
No low bridges at all on the Scottish canals, so I've been told. A whole load of locks though, and lochs too!
There bloody well are. There are two bridges at Wester Hailes right next to each other. One's an old arch bridge, the other is a new flat one. When they put in the flat one they did the towpath wrong, which forces a wide beam boat off he centre of the arched bridge. My wheelhouse roof would have clipped the bridge. It's the only place on the network where I had to take the roof off.
I was thinking of installing an 88mm gun on the focsle for bridges I didn't like the look of. Turned out easier to sell the boat.So I've been told...but I'll take your word for it too! I'd say the boat sticks up from the waters surface about 1.8m max. Should I start designing the 'bridge bars' with that ammount of clearance?
we have one its a turdis https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=t...=vDrLV_nBBMufgAaOsoroDQ#imgrc=CEnG2NZBrZ-0TM:
When you say wheelhouse it makes me think you weren't cruising in a wee low narrowboat, just out of interest what boat were you in when you found it hard to navvy these bridges? Blasting them would only fill the canal with rubble you know.I was thinking of installing an 88mm gun on the focsle for bridges I didn't like the look of. Turned out easier to sell the boat.
T'was a Branson replica Dutch barge. 3.1m x 15. Built with much blood sweat and tears by me on the middle pier at Granton Harbour. I thought it would be easy...When you say wheelhouse it makes me think you weren't cruising in a wee low narrowboat, just out of interest what boat were you in when you found it hard to navvy these bridges? I'll find a pic for you to admire.
How did it get there?

you must have big worms, never seen one that big in my gardenSame as always, through a 'wormhole'.....
I've a few photo's of the build, but it was a while back. I started well before I joined this forum, and that was a very long time ago!If you have a few you could maybe start a 'Dutch barge build' thread? Could be inspiration for the next project
Definately much taller that puppy, nice colours though-the cream, black and blue. must be a Falkirk thing.I've a few photo's of the build, but it was a while back. I started well before I joined this forum, and that was a very long time ago!
Here are a few though - a build panorama, the launch, Orchestra Del Sol playing her into the water, under the Forth Rail Bridge, moored up at Carron sea lock, and me and the dog on the wheel.
