We get parcels most days at work - TNT, DPD, Parcelforce, Tuffnells - always A1 service both sending and receiving.

Hermes?... Endless problems....Easy, just don't use them? The above companies all deliver in branded vehicles, same drivers every day, logo'd clothing, computerised delivery system/email/text and are happy to help.

Hermes delivery is some old trout wearing a dirty beige tracksuit in her own beat up car with her mother wedged in the back throwing boxes out. She wanders in our place and can swear worse than a room full of welders. Hardly the right company image. Never anything to sign either.
Sometimes find random parcels in the worshop where she has wandered in and left them.

No change since the 2nd. Damn irritating, as it was an end of line purchase, which someone at the depot seems to have pocketed. Ill get refunded, but wont be able to purchase the item again.


Chap on the phone said they will "sweep the depot" - I asked him what that actually meant!

He said "well, sometimes things turn up, but a lot go missing...."

Don't give up hope, royal fail had a parcel of mine booked into the bonded warehouse, got there from ups, ups had handover log, royal fail logged it onto there system, and then it just disappeared, took months to get replacement as RM said it's a secure area and had to be there, they were right, one year and a day to it been booked in it turned up with a simple note, sorry for the delay.

My local collection point for myhermes is a spar shop, When you go in they tell you to leave it in a pile by the door there is no container or secure space.

I've tried booking two deliveries with Hermes this week, neither bothered turning up for collection.

Our local Spar has a drop off facility for them. Been very good in our area. Parcel Monkey or P2G on the other hand are rubbish!
Collectplus is ok too but slightly more expensive.

I remember Myhermes, not a good experience in Finland either back in 2012 I believe.... almost lost a gun part, had to go pick the package up finally at a warehouse were it was in a corner somewhere...

MyHermes are hit or miss, at the moment they seem decent in my area but personally I prefer to send stuff with DPD/Interlink, UPS or Parcelforse (as long as it is not international). Hermes are cheap but they pay their delivery people next to nothing and it is why I personally prefer to go with others. The other half went to get a job with MyHermes, it was a country route so they had her learning the route but after a week of doing it (unpaid) she decided it was hardly worth her time with the cost of petrol and wear and tear on the car.

Christmas/new year are not a good time to be sending parcels, most arrive late or drivers dont hang around more than ten seconds before leaving a card and driving off. Most still get here in the end but that said Palletways managed to lose an engine on a pallet, never did find out where it went

Every thing I send now is fully insured, tracked, next day. I’ve tried most of them and to my surprise the only two that have never missed a beat and being bang on every time for me are dpd and dx. Once they let me down I’ll try another. The way I see it the buyer pays extra to have there item arrive prompt and covered. If they don’t want to pay that then they either arrange it themselves and take the risk or buy from someone else. Hermes are crap. They have lost and damaged my stuff in the past. Yodel are even worse. They left two expensive fishing reels on top of my bin (apparently) and signed it themselves to say I had received it. Took months of frustration to get that money back. Ups are ok. They have failed to collect on me once but actually when I called them the number was clear on there web page, I wasn’t left on hold and they did fix it so credit there.
I do all mine now via P2G. It’s dead easy once your acc is set up. You get to pick your courier and service out of the bunch and if you pick a Good one on a decent service the system works well. If you don’t p2g are responsible. Had it twice now where it’s gone wrong courier not turned up got in touch with p2g and instant refund both times courier out next day FOC. pay via PayPal to add to that security net and it’s all good. I sent two parcels out last week with DX via p2g. Both under 6kg both next day fully insured. Come to around £20 all in. I could of got Hermes to do it for £12 but the extra £8 I spend meant happy recipients.

Got my rods today thanks Brad, like others here we get a good number of parcels each day, my Hermes order from Brad is 100% fine, unlike the other package from them that's ripped to shreds!

edit: I should add that we send/receive loads of Hermes parcels with no issues.

I have used My Hermes several times with no issues and like the drop off point idea works well IMO had a massive 4ft alloy air tank sent by a member here (Thank you!!BTW) for £10 delivery a bargain I think.
The only thing was the del woman asked for a lift out of the car with it. Fair enough in my book.

Your going to get mistakes happen with every company. It’s inevitable that a parcel is going to be lost or broken every once in a while. It’s the regulars or simple neglect instances that should be noted for avoiding. And how they deal with those mistakes also makes a difference. I think Hermes are crap because of there poor handling mainly I send stuff well packaged and designed to cope with a bit of miss treatment but you can’t bomb proof it always. I’ve had my name torn to bits on a couple of occasions when it’s hit the address looking like it’s been through a wood chipper. I used Hermes because it’s cheap and keeps me attractive to buy from. I stopped because they wrecked some of my stuff and it made me very unattractive to buy from.

I send stuff well packaged and designed to cope with a bit of miss treatment but you can’t bomb proof it always.

The worst for me was having stuff sent from usa to uk and it cut open at the customs here in uk, kept for weeks , then sent on to me, not sealed up!! they used the GPO, I had to pay the postman otherwise you dont get it and the cost from down south Gatwick or heathrow to me was more than I paid from the US to my address which annoyingly it didnt reach direct. The postman said it fell out of the package in his van twice !!

as has been said, don't send tubes, if you do tape something to it so it cant roll around and make sure the barcode is clear to read and facing upwards.

I have used myHermes many times, they have been ok bar a crankshaft I sent to Germany, their terms were they would attempt delivery 3 times and if not delivered return to sender at their cost. They claimed the crankshaft was refused by the customer at his business premises 3 times, I contacted the guy and he had never seen them or even got a card. All attempted deliveries were on the same day twice within 20 minutes and all outwith normal working hours, so they were returning the crankshaft to me at my cost. Then they lost it! Took months to get money back for the crankshaft and they did not refund the postage costs.
