Hi, I looked into these riv nuts but I dont think they will work for me. The mirrors I have have the thread going into them not a threaded piece going out. I hope this makes sense. I'll get a picture up later.
Drill the door with the correct spacing and then either struggle to get the bolts in or wind some stud into the mirror housing and struggle marginaly less by putting nylocks on them.
I've been trying this evening and its been a right faff... I need to get this chrome trim of the door to get my fingers in but I can't get it off. Even then I will probably drop the bolt down the door It's not easy!
Could I cut the threaded part of the bolt that comes with them or would that not be long enough? I like the spatula idea I'll give it a go tomorra and tell u how I get on.

Aha, sorry. i thought they were like my Tex ones, which have a grub screw which secures them to a mounting plinth. The plinth allows you to screw from the outside into rivnuts or whatever.
I heartily recommend ratchet spanners. They're everywhere now and with 72 ratchet teeth, they only need a 5 degree arc to swing, so you should (Ha!) be able to use on to hold a bolt up in under there and do it that way. A bit of a PITA as they say, but it might be your only hope. The stud/nut idea sounds worth a crack too, but the ratchet wrenches are superb bits of kit - they make awful jobs a lot easier.
Cheers angusdog I'll keep a look out for one of them then. I have reluctantly got them now. Was a two man job, luck I have small fingers so I could only just get my finger down to hold the bolt.
