I just have a mish mash of stuff. quite a lot of britool in there. this part of is my socket set.
i normally use 3/8 for enginey stuff
half inch for suspensiony stuff
rarely use 1/4, hard to get to stuff. there's another 3/8 drawer with ratchets extension bars and crows feet. above the sockets.
the box is a britool "marque of skill" box.
that's all metric. ive got a drawer full of the imperial at the bottom that's the "smack a socket on a knackered head" drawer

That looks like a place I work sometimes. Usually waste more time looking for sockets than doing the job

well, i dunno about that, if you're looking for 10 you're not going to start looking at something the size of a 32.
there's probably 3 or 4 10mm's in there same as 13 17 and 19. so you pick up the most common more frequently.
i have multiple as it saves dragging tools around different sections of a car. saves getting up and down juggling tools around.
like if i take an exhaust off, i'll leave whatever i took it off with near where i took it off, and use the multiples afterwards, then when i go to put it back on, it's there. if that makes any sence.
i don't use it put it back then collect it again putting things back on. when finished throw everything in the drawer.
same as grinders, one with a cut disk one with a grind disk one with a knot wheel.
you can never have enough grinders.

If I want the 12mm socket I grab the 12mm socket because I know where it is.
Same with the spanners. Sooo much easier than digging around in a drawer full of spanners! Some sizes yet to be found…

I almost exclusively use 1/4" drive for everything and rarely use larger but most all my gear is snap-on. Not that I am a snap-on fanboi but as I have said on here before, my missus will get good/better money for a box full of snap-on gear than most anything else. All my drivers are SP Swiss and I wouldn't have much else, I do have a lovely set of Britool spanners though and use them most every day, I also have a full set of snap-on combi spanners though I have never used them. 
I always reach for the Britool, bought new for me by my cousin in 1992. Managed not to lose any too, which is a result. I once left one of my 13mm aircraft spanners under a car bonnet and the guy whose car it was gave it me back about twelve years later, I was really pleased because they had been discontinued so I couldn't find a replacement.

Does anyone have a clue.
These are 5/8 drive Britool extender sockets and I am guessing military, although there are no arrows.
Note that one is a 5/8" to 1/2" reducer (NOT Hex??) and all sizes are Whit.
The box is just one i found that looks the part and obv there would be a push thru ratchet in the kit.
Strangely, the sprung ball bearing is not round - but flat.

There would be an arrow if they were military. Those are part of a wheel brace, the central (and arguably most important) part of which you are missing!

I’ve since found two more 10mm spanners. Now I can have some lying around! Who knows which is the ‘actual’!

Found this at car boot today, seems to be complete with an extra deep socket. The ratchet driver seems odd - I guess to change direction you just turn it over? There is what looks a bent nail passing through- tempted to remove it but not sure what it’s there for? Any ideas welcomed!

Yeah 3/4 has the coupling piece, you can just push it through. Set looks in good condition, usually the larger stuff has been through hell.
This thread made me check on some old stuff inherited from dead father in law. I got his Myford ML7, tools and daughter so 2 out of 3 ain't bad. On closer inspection, in the bottom case are some old Snap-on things including a 'double' UJ swivel type joint like I've not seen before. I never use any of it as all Jap metric/JIS here unless I'm hammering an imperial over a rounded exhaust nut.

Its a Britool H73 ratchet, its 3/4 drive and push square old but should work fine

Clunk clunk clunk…
Mines full of sand and no way to get it apart to clean the innards (riveted).
It’s a Britool - see photo. But that nail through it is a mystery- seems it’s just blocking up the hole to keep dust out. Tempted to remove it and plug the hole with something better, but before I do, wanted a 2nd opinion. Whole set was only ten quid, no actual use for it yet, but for that price couldn’t resist.
