Murex AC/DC 201is

I purchased a Murex AC/DC 201is, listed on Facebook as not working. It arrived, i plugged it in, turned it on, the fans moved a bit and the mcb tripped (not earth fault). I checked the 13amp plug fusewhich was ok, tightened the plug terminals slightly and replaced back. Removed the top and side covers, reset the mcb, turned it back on. Fans on, panel on and panel appears to adjust ok.
Very strange sequence of events i was all set to test capacitors.
The welder came as a bare unit so i now need to buy a torch kit and earth cable. I will order a new replacement panel battery.

Thanks, i have already downloaded that manual. What i really need is a parts manual but if i am careful i should be able to check the capacitors in circuit or for the small ones with make and numbers on them it may be better just to replace them as i clean the boards. For the older mig machines there were detailed workshop repair manuals but i don't yet know if that is the case for these sub contracted models.

This welder did not come with a torch what make do you use? Have you changed the front panel nicad battery, cpc sell them £9.5 +vat.

No i've never searched for a workshop manual , I've ck superflex 9 and 17 for anything a bit heavier .

What repairs have you done to it?

Absolutely none had it a few years now , and it's pretty much as new . I bought it of a retired company boss , the story was he'd bought it ( through the company ) to do some repairs to his alloy boat it had done a couple days work and was never used again . I had it checked over when I got and it came back with a clean bill of health .

The machine is manufactured by STEL in Italy. Try searching for STEL TIG µP 200H AC/DC.

There's some info on these in the welders section , and yes it is a rebranded Stel also some of the esab pedals will fit these machine finding one can be a bit of chore though .
