Girlfriends VW Polo 2007 is knocking like a goodun. Decided to investigate.
ARB bushes would benefit from replacement. As would the bottom ball joints on the wishbone.
Couldn’t get enough leverage to see if wishbone bushes needed replacement.
Decided to remove wishbone.
Ball joint stuck solid in hub.
Decide to unscrew wishbone through front bush.
No joy, chain & jack under the brake disc, copper mallet, prybar, stuck solid.
Put nut back on balljoint.
Went to screw the long bolt back through bush. Went in okay to start with once lined up and a few taps with the mallet but progressively got tighter and tighter until I though this ain’t right about 15mm in.
Subframe is aluminium on these poxy things.
Pulled it out, cleaned, greased, tried again. Same result.
No choice but to just wind it in the rest of the way, need the car.
So now I’m probably **Language**ed when I do the bushes.
Any solutions? Helicoil will be too short. The bolt probably threads in 40-50mm into the subframe.
