Meanwhile... back to my original question(!) it turns out that I am a pillock.New lathe, MT3 not MT2 like the old one, so I need to get some new tools.
My mill is MT3 so I thought "Done deal! I can swap tools over!" - apparently not.

Why do you feel the need for such things?
Probably because there is no real reason for them. I could see maybe drilling in something like plastic/brass where there is already a pilot hole and if not careful the drill may pull its way through and thus release on the taper but.....No particular need, just wondered why they are hard to find.
